Newcastle Considers Loan for Will Osula as Striker Search Continues đź‘€

Newcastle United is reportedly looking to bolster its attacking options, which could lead to a surprise loan move for young striker Will Osula. This comes as the club prepares for another Champions League campaign, aiming to address the depth issues that hindered our 2023/24 run.

Last season, injuries forced manager Eddie Howe to deploy an unconventional front three of Callum Wilson, Joelinton, and Tino Livramento in a crucial Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. To avoid a similar scenario, Newcastle are keen to add more firepower. While the signing of Anthony Elanga is nearing completion, the club's next "priority" is to secure another striker.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie revealed on his YouTube channel that "there is a chance" Osula could be loaned out if Newcastle successfully brings in another forward to compete with, or back up, Alexander Isak. Downie stated, "Once Elanga is in and done, the priority will be to get another striker to compete with Isak. Yes, Will Osula is there, but I think there’s a chance there that he may go out on loan at the start of the season."

This news contradicts earlier reports from May by The Mail's Craig Hope, which suggested Osula was expected to remain with the squad for the 2025/26 season after impressing Howe in training. However, Downie's comments indicate that a loan remains a strong possibility for the Danish U-21 international, who recently had a strong showing at the U-21 EUROs.

The decision regarding Osula's immediate future is a complex one. While he possesses significant potential, he is still developing and needs consistent playing time to make the step up to the senior level.

With Newcastle set to compete on four fronts next season, some believe Osula could gain more opportunities under Howe. However, if a new striker arrives to compete with Isak, coupled with existing wide options like Gordon, Barnes, Elanga, and Murphy, Osula's playing time might be limited to brief cameos rather than regular starts.

The club will be weighing the benefits of keeping him in the squad—allowing him to further integrate into the team's style, help Elanga settle, and provide another versatile option—against the potential for more substantial development through a full season of regular football, perhaps in the Championship. The resolution of this transfer window will ultimately dictate Osula's path for the upcoming season.

Personally for me I'd keep him at Newcastle as with the games we've got he will surely get plenty of minutes!? 🤔
