Going green is no longer reserved for the developed countries. It is the most economical way for Global South countries to meet energy needs. Don't believe the bs by Doomberg. It's taken a while for solar+battery to be the most economical option for much of the world, but it is now certainly cheaper than fossil fuel & more easily deployable than any form of energy (including onshore wind). How can solar not win? For all those ppl that attack China's continued construction of coal plants. Why does it matter to you if China wants to have a huge fleet of coal plants for backup? It put same huge investment in LNG facilities that it is clearly not fully utilizing. At the end of the day, economics will win & solar is the cheapest. The oldest & most polluting coal will decommission 1st. The modern supercritical ones & ones that can burn ammonia will stick around for a while. But at the present pace of solar industry expansion in China, we will see drastic reduction in thermal demand within XX yrs. China is doing this for its own national interest. Being energy secure & independent is in its interest. Having clean air & water is in its interest. Extreme weather from even greater climate change is not in its interest.
