Speaking at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, Dimon doubled down on his belief that working from home “doesn’t work in our business,” taking aim at corporate employees resisting return-to-office mandates. Dimon contrasted remote workers with frontline workers who never had the luxury of working from home. “Where did you get your Amazon packages from? Your beef, your meat, your vodka? The people who delivered all that—UPS, FedEx, nurses, sanitation workers, they were on the job.” He acknowledged remote setups can work in rare cases, citing virtual call centers staffed by minorities in cities like Baltimore and Detroit. But he insists that for JPMorgan’s business and culture, in-person work is essential—especially for younger employees’ development. “You have a free market,” Dimon said. “You can quit. But don’t tell us how to run JPMorgan.” For Dimon, culture and collaboration simply don’t translate through a screen.
