My dad became suspicious and when they left he noted that they were running down the sidewalk with an SNES. He told me to test mine and it was bricked. So he walked to their house and got it back. Later we realized they had swiped about half of our hot wheels so he went back again and heard them all getting their asses beat by their dad and decided not to interrupt.
