Numerous real-life stories of foreign influence exist without relying on conspiracies. Let’s examine one:

In July 2021, GETTR launched as a social media platform positioned as an alternative to Twitter for Trump supporters. Former Trump aide Jason Miller was the public face of the venture.

But who was truly behind the platform?

Federal authorities later revealed that Chinese billionaire Miles Guo controlled and funded GETTR through several shell corporations, ultimately tied to the Hamilton Opportunity Fund. Miles Guo, who has been Steve Bannon’s primary business partner for the past decade (Bannon was a major public supporter of GETTR), is currently awaiting sentencing after his July 2024 conviction for racketeering, securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.

His conviction stemmed from defrauding online investors, including many Trump supporters. (This case is separate from the one where Bannon was accused of defrauding Trump supporters who donated to build a wall at the border.) Steve Bannon was named an unindicted co-conspirator in Guo’s case. Guo’s former chief of staff, Yvette Wang, has already been sentenced to XX years in prison for similar crimes.

Bannon has a long-standing relationship with Guo. Guo paid Bannon millions for consulting services, and they co-founded two nonprofits together. Guo leveraged Bannon as his primary entry into Trump’s inner circle. They also collaborated on several media and business ventures, including GTV Media Group, which faced federal investigation and was forced to settle with the SEC for securities violations.

More on Guo: He was a Chinese billionaire with extensive ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He fled China in 2014 while facing charges of corruption, bribery, rape, money laundering, and fraud—charges strikingly similar to those he now faces in the U.S. Guo claimed these were politically motivated and positioned himself as an anti-CCP activist. However, many U.S.-based Chinese dissidents suspect he retains CCP ties and that his public criticism may be a facade to undermine and defraud the opposition. These connections are factual and verifiable, requiring no conspiracies to piece together.

So why aren’t they more widely discussed?
