During their June meeting, most Federal Reserve officials appeared divided on how many rate cuts – if any – should happen this year, according to the meeting minutes.

“Some” policymakers saw no reductions this year, while a “couple” others noted that they’d be open to a cut “as soon as the next meeting” this month.

This comes as amid statements from President Trump noting that he expects a rate cut in the near-term.

Nonetheless, Fed Chair Jerome Powell has remained steadfast in his wait-and-see stance, noting that the central bank will wait and assess tariff impact on inflation before adjusting policy.
