MEL GIBSON: I READ A SILLY BOOK... AND NEVER SMOKED AGAIN

"I smoked for XX years. I couldn't stop. And I read this silly book by Allen Carr, and it's the only thing that made me stop. 

It was called The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. 

Silly title, right? My son gave it to me and said, 'Stop smoking, Dad.' 

Then my doctor told me I had first-stage emphysema. I said, 'I'd better read this book.'

There was a chapter that said, 'Now we're going to talk about the good aspects of smoking,' and when you turned the page, it was blank. 

It was all a mind trick. But it worked. 

And I don’t know why it worked."
