I've actually had a few DM contacts here on X that are very interested in it and follow it even more than me. MTY Foods, what can we say about this? It's kind of still founder led (Ma is still Chairman) and it kind of reminds me of Berkshire of the small food franchises. And it being primarily a royalty company, it does intrigue me. I'll write up more about this company that does business in US and Canada, but when COVID happened and everything was shuttered, they still seemed to be able to collect their royalties. I've invested in the company through the years, but my conviction of this company is renewed after seeing them sail through (not without scars though) during the pandemic years. The only concern has been the revolving line of credit, which they use to fund their acquisitions and I think their capital allocation decisions regarding that have been, in hindsight, short-sighted. But going forward, it'll be interesting to cover this company because they actually are a pulse on the broader US and Canadian economies because of the sensitivity to consumer spending etc. One to watch out for.
