Mali’s interim government has moved forward with the sale of more than $XXX million worth of gold seized from a disputed mining operation previously run by Canadian firm Barrick Gold-deepening a months-long standoff that is reshaping investor confidence in the country’s mining sector.

The sale, which involves roughly one metric ton of gold from the Loulo-Gounkoto mine, was authorized this week by a court-appointed administrator.

Valued at approximately $XXX million, the proceeds are expected to be used to settle pressing domestic costs, including unpaid salaries, fuel bills, and outstanding debts to local contractors.
