There’s major criticism going on about Pumpfun and it’s not just a hype!

Pumpfun announced that it’s launching its $PUMP token on July 12, and this has raised a lot of eyeballs, hence tagging the TGE idea as;

Pumpfun launched in Jan 2024 as a no-code memecoin platform on Solana. For $3-4, anyone could create a token using bonding curves.

This concept was able to pull up:

- 17M+ tokens created💰

- 2.4M+ users 🌎

- $677M revenue by June 2025 🙆

- Peak daily revenue: $7M (Jan 2025) 🙀

- Current daily revenue: ~$533K (July 2025) 🙊

All these were hypes until the $PUMP TGE was raised!

The Pumpfun TGE was a plan to raise $600M by selling 150B $PUMP tokens (15% of supply) at $0.004, implying a $4B FDV..

This raises concern of  “Where’s the money going?” 🙋

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝?

Many believe that the TGE isn’t just a raise but a liquidity drain.

They’re calling it “The Great Extraction”, a way for Pumpfun’s team (who’ve already earned ~$700M in fees) to cash out again… at scale.

People are picking on the fact that,

🔅 $20B lost to scams via Pumpfun tokens (per estimates)

🔅 The $2M hack in May 2024 by a rogue employee

🔅 Lawsuits, UK ban, and X account suspensions

And, according to @Cointelegraph, XX% of memecoins on Pumpfun are sniped by bots, and XX% of them go to zero.

𝙎𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙖 $600𝙈 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙢𝙥.

Also, when BonkFun flipped Pumpfun in volume, it sparked a shift in sentiment that BonkFun could take the lead and that the $PUMP TGE might be a final cash-out move by Pumpfun.

However, amidst all these speculations, there is still a good view of Pumpfun:

✦ First mover in degen tokens

✦ $677M in revenue means strong product-market fit

✦ No-code, open access platform

✦  Fair launch model with no presales

✦ Rumored XX% rev share for $PUMP holders

✦ Huge scale and visibility

But many people have issues with:

➢ The $600M raise at $4B FDV during a XX% rev decline

➢ No airdrop to 17M token creators 😔

➢ Bots and scams dominate token launches 🤑

➢ Core team possibly exiting with billions 😎

➢ Negative impact on broader memecoin sentiment 👀

➢ Repeated allegations of regulatory risk 🔫

Many believe this could mark the local top of memecoins and drain liquidity from the “trenches” buyers who may sell their current bags just to ape into $PUMP… then get dumped on again.
