It confirms that my bank was not shut down by OCIF due to any of the official reasons given by the Commissioner at the press conference. It was shut down due to illegal pressure from the IRS, so the J5 could exploit the shutdown to demonstrate its power to disrupt the enablers of tax crimes. However, during the press conference, the OCIF Commissioner confirmed that no evidence was found that the bank actually facilitated any tax crimes. The same conclusion was reached by a two-year grand jury investigation conducted on behalf of the J5. Because the massive investigation—widely reported in the media due to an illegal leak—came up empty, the J5 saved face by getting OCIF to shut down the bank as a PR stunt to demonstrate its power to disrupt the enablers of tax crimes. But to do that, they shut down a bank they knew had not enabled a single customer to evade taxes or launder money.
