🚨🇦🇺 “BIOLOGICAL AI” LETS CELLS DESIGN NEW DRUGS IN WEEKS 

Sydney researchers built PROTEUS, a system that uses human cells like tiny AI labs to evolve brand-new molecules that could shut down disease genes or boost gene editing tools like CRISPR.

Unlike older tech stuck in bacteria, PROTEUS works inside mammal cells and races through millions of genetic combos to find molecules that actually work in the human body.

To keep the system honest, they fused bits of different viruses into Franken-virus particles that block cells from taking shortcuts and spitting out useless results.

Scientists have already used PROTEUS to craft proteins that respond better to drugs and nanobodies that spot DNA damage tied to cancer, and now they’re letting other labs use it for free.
