A person has been sucked into an aircraft engine on the taxiway at Milan Bergamo Airport in Italy on Tuesday morning, the country's media reported.

SACBO, the airport's operator, said flights were suspended at 10:20 a.m. local time "due to a problem that occurred on the taxiway."

"The causes of the problem are currently being investigated by the authorities," the statement from SACBO said.

It is still unclear whether the person was a passenger or an airport worker.

A total of XX flights have now been cancelled as a result of the incident, according to Flightradar24.
