This is psychologically how it works.

Jessica here believes the argument that she's making. She's saying the girl didn't want anyone to lie, but rather, she wanted me to tell the truth - that she looked like she weighed less than she did.

This concept is entirely reasonable to Jessica. "I want to appear different from what I am." It's not that she actually wants to BE different. She just wants others to see her and have perceptions that differ from reality.

This is how relational thinking works. It's different from objective thinking.
