šŸ’„āœŠ Randy Brown reflects on how Jack Della Maddalena surprised him with composure and distance management despite Brown’s 78ā€ reach:

ā€œWhen I first fought JDM, he cracked me early. The plan was to come out fast—don’t hit him hard, just touch him, get in his head. I was even slapping him, landed like XX shots in the first round. But what impressed me was how composed he stayed. Most guys back off when you start like that. Not him—he stayed calm, stuck to his game.

He backed me to the cage and looped a right hand. I thought it was coming straight, or if it hooked, I’d still avoid it. But he stepped his back foot with the punch—it covered way more ground than I expected.

Next thing I know, I’m on the ground trying to recover. I turn to get up—boom, he’s on my back and chokes me out.

At the time, I thought, ā€˜This fight would go completely differently in a rematch.’ And honestly, it would. But watching him now? He’s evolved so much. He’s not the same guy anymore.

Amazing boxing, no tells, sharp eyes. Props to him. I’m looking forward to fighting him again someday. I’d approach it very differently—start fast, get in his head, and then settle into the power shots mid-round. Last time, I never got that chance. He cut me off and finished the job.ā€
