Eos is not the sole supplier, but they may be the sold American supplier that is receiving 45x tax credits like he was talking about. And at the time he said that they may have been the sole supplier for their needs so far this year amidst the tariff wars and IRA uncertainty.

More precise language from the earnings call:

“Our team had the foresight last year to secure arrangements to purchase U.S.-made batteries for a significant portion of our backlog, with the remainder of the battery sourced outside of China where tariff exposure is contractually allocated to the supplier.”

We know Eos is a part of their backlog. They delivered Torrecillas this year, and have at least another 3-400 MWh in backlog from the school project in Florida, and the FUZES project on deck. And they have a X GWh offtake agreement that be exercised to replicate the FUZES projects if successful.

The “remainder of the battery sourced outside of China where tariff exposure is contractually allocated to the supplier” is clearly Samsung. Those will have tariffs on Korea but are not FEOC restricted and Samsung has plans to transition manufacturing to the U.S. over time.

Those are the two I think they were talking about. NextEra has been quietly working with Eos for a long time, helping them design the cube to streamline installation and signing the X GWh offtake agreement in 2023. With solar and wind subsidies trailing off NextEra will want to add storage to their existing wind and solar sites, especially if a system like Eos can help them monetize those assets more than traditional Li-ion.
