When you hold real BTC, you control the private keys. With wrapped BTC? A centralized entity controls the actual Bitcoin. If they get hacked, censored, or disappear your “BTC” is gone. This isn’t theoretical. We’ve seen bridges hacked for billions, custodians freeze funds, and wrapped assets depeg or disappear overnight. Bitcoin was built to eliminate this kind of trust dependency. But I need BTC in DeFi!True. The problem is, most DeFi platforms can’t handle native Bitcoin. So they wrap it as a shortcut. There’s a better way, trustless, native cross-chain swaps that is what @PortaltoBitcoin is building where there would be be No bridges. No middlemen. No wrapped tokens. Just actual Bitcoin moving securely across chains. If Bitcoin is going to truly power global finance, it needs to stay sovereign, not become collateral for someone else’s promise.
