“Why weren’t these camps evacuated?”
 Top official: “I can’t answer that.”

They had the warnings.
They knew the river was deadly.
They knew the flood was coming.
And they left the kids there.

Now children are missing.
Cities are underwater.
And the same official shrugs:
“We deal with floods all the time… we didn’t know it’d be this bad.”
