We are a sovereign nation and deserve global respect, but our leaders must reflect on the state of our nation. For years, we’ve taken loans with little to show. Why not build an environment that welcomes U.S. companies to invest here? That would create jobs and bring long-term benefits. This isn’t about blaming one government—it’s about all leaders who failed to use their time in office to create lasting growth. Politics in Ghana has become dirty, harming the nation. We continue to face land and water pollution and a lack of internet access. A few months ago, GH₵292.4 million was allocated just to distribute sanitary pads. Instead, we could have built a local factory to produce them—creating jobs and making them affordable for all. Every country borrows, but smart nations invest in ways that bring returns. We should do the same, ensuring we can pay back loans through real growth. This is Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana, not one of excuses. As he said: “The independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African continent.” Liberation now means economic freedom, innovation, and leadership that puts Ghana first. Let’s wake up and think of the people—because they are the real collateral behind every national decision.
