Shockingly, it was my mother who suggested i do that and “see what happens”. He said yes. And X weeks later we were on a ship together. I had never met someone who would schedule an impromptu cruise- or spontaneous travel at all. Especially not with someone they just met. And it was in the middle of the cruise that it slipped out candidly, “i love you”. It “slipped” because while i did feel love already by that point, i didnt want to scare him. But he looked at me, and i quickly said he didnt have to say it back but he cut me off and said it, adding “im glad you said it first but ive been wanting to.” We went to NY, and a few other places regularly after that and were never apart after our first date. I have always believed in the concept of a soul mate. Sometimes you stumble along the way, and people convince you such subject matter is for fairytales, at least for a little while. But then you feel it one day when you meet someone, like you’ve known them not only for one life time, but an endless number of lives.
