Fed’s top bank supervision official to retire this month, potentially adding uncertainty for financial regulation and Web3

Michael Gibson, director of the Federal Reserve’s Division of Supervision and Regulation, has accepted a voluntary buyout and will retire at the end of this month, concluding a 33-year career at the Fed. Meanwhile, his deputies Jennifer Burns and Arthur Lindo are also planning to retire later this year. Previously, Fed Chair Jerome Powell announced plans to cut about XX% of the Fed’s workforce in alignment with President Trump’s push to streamline the federal government.

The market views these regulatory leadership changes as adding further uncertainty to the future direction of financial oversight, which could indirectly impact the expansion of Web3 in areas such as banking compliance, custody, and payments.
