Authorities arrested a Sri Lankan suspect at Suvarnabhumi Airport for attempting to smuggle three ball pythons concealed in his underwear.

The suspect arrived on July X via Thai Airways flight TG308 and has a history of wildlife trafficking, including a prior arrest abroad.

After initial luggage screening found no illegal items, a personal search uncovered the protected ball pythons, listed under CITES Appendix II, hidden on the suspect’s person.

Charges were filed under the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act and the Customs Act for attempting to export protected wildlife and undeclared goods without authorization. The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

The arrest demonstrates strong interagency cooperation within Thailand’s wildlife enforcement network.
