FROM R51M SALARY TO R35M

MultiChoice CEO, Calvo Mawela, has been paid R35-million after leading the company from a R4-billion loss last year to a R1.8 billion profit. 

This turnaround was powered by a R3.4-billion sale of its XX% stake in NMSIS to Sanlam, alongside R3.7-billion in cost cuts that beat internal targets. 

Still, revenue fell X% to R50-billion, and subscriber numbers dropped by XXX million, signalling pressure from streaming rivals and piracy.
