Survival tip: If you land in such a situation, don’t argue. Just say, “Yes, you’re right, I'll learn”, followed by fist in the air and a loud “Jai Maharashtra” (or whichever state applies).

Don’t ask me, “What about my rights, Constitution, democracy? In Indian democracy, your rights only matter if you’re very rich, or have more electoral value than those harassing you, or can gather a mob big enough to cause a law and order situation. You are none of those. So, no politician is going to take on the language warriors. That’s why you need to adapt and handle it smartly.
