The ASX XXX fell just X point to 8541 in quiet trade as banks came under some pressure.

$CBA.AX (-1.2%) sold down as money flowed to the other three. $ANZ.AX (+2.5%) the big winner.

In resources, the iron ore majors steadied. $FMG.AX up 0.7%.
