Here's what a typical VC funded company cap table looks like.

Series A: $X
Series B: $XX
Series C: $XXX
Series D: $XXX
Series E: $XXX
IPO: ?? $1500

While 50X or 150X sounds good to you. Don't be a fool and start playing the angel investing game. Unless your friend is the next Zuckerberg, or Travis Kalanick (even if you think you do, he's probably not)...and it's easy to lose money. VC game is a very tight knit network with strong signal. Funds like a16z makes so much money, they would not accept just anybody's money. They want to give that opportunity for their friends and family or whoever, they can benefit to raise even more money.

My point is there's a huge survival bias at play. For every single one that made this far, there are 1000's that bankrupted or struggling. I'm happy to pay series E price when the early risks are priced in, and profiting the next 10X.
