According to CNN, hundreds of women in Tehran raised their babies into the air in a symbolic gesture, declaring their readiness to offer them as martyrs for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

CNN correspondent Frederik Pleitgen, who witnessed the event, reported:

“Martyrdom is a hugely important concept here in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“We’re currently at an event where hundreds of women hold their babies into the air to show that they’re willing to offer their children as martyrs…”
