🔹 2022: Founding and vision

🏗️ Taiko was founded with the mission to create a fully decentralized Ethereum Layer-2 solution through a Type-1 ZK-Rollup. The goal was to achieve scalability without compromising on decentralization, security, and permissionlessness.

The team focused on developing a ZK-EVM that is fully compatible with Ethereum, with the long-term aim of offering an Ethereum-based rollup architecture.

🔹 2023: First testnet and fundamental upgrades

💥 In 2023, Taiko launched its first testnet (Alpha-1), taking the first steps in developing the ZK-EVM circuits. The network began focusing on improving the performance of its rollup and testing Ethereum compatibility.

🔹 2024: Launch of the Mainnet

🚀 In the second quarter of 2024, the Taiko mainnet was launched, presented as Ethereum's first "based rollup," supported by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

The mainnet made it possible for Ethereum-compatible applications to easily migrate to Taiko, significantly improving Ethereum's speed and scalability.

⚡ Present: Growth and optimization (2024-2025)

🔹 Q3 2024: Gas optimization and testnet upgrades

💡 Taiko reduced gas fees on the Ethereum network by XX% through optimization of its Layer-2 solution.

Additionally, the Hekla upgrade was introduced on the testnet, improving scalability and performance. The integration of zkVM proofs was also completed.

🔹 Q4 2024: Integration of ZK-proofs and pre-confirmations

🔧 The implementation of zkVM proofs was carried out on the mainnet, increasing transaction speed.

Furthermore, the Decentralized Security Council for the Hekla upgrade was introduced, and the new booster-rollup protocol, Gwyneth, was launched on the devnet.

🔹 Q1 2025: Further decentralization and DAO governance

📈 Taiko is focusing on further decentralization in 2025 and launching a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) for governance.

🔹 2025-2026: Scaling and integration of booster-rollups

⚡ In the coming years, Taiko will further scale its network using booster-rollups. This will ensure that dApps on Ethereum can scale to Layer-2 more easily without reimplementation.

Additionally, the integration of multi-proofs will be expanded to improve efficiency and enhance interoperability between different networks.
