DETAILS: Moscow, Russia — A shocking incident unfolded at Sheremetyevo International Airport on June 23, where a two-year-old boy was violently attacked in the baggage claim area, leaving him in a coma with severe injuries. 

Authorities have detained a 31-year-old Belarusian citizen, identified as Vladimir Vitkov, in connection with the assault, which has been classified as attempted murder.  

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the suspect, who had arrived from Cairo, approached the child, who was with his family.

Surveillance footage shows the man briefly observing the toddler before suddenly lifting him and throwing him forcefully to the ground. 

The boy sustained a fractured spine and cranial injuries. He was rushed to Dr. Roshal’s Clinic, where he remains in a serious but stable condition in a medically induced coma.  

Witnesses quickly intervened, and transport police apprehended the suspect at the scene. 

A medical examination confirmed traces of cannabis in his system, and authorities noted erratic behavior prior to the attack. 

During questioning, the suspect admitted to acting inappropriately, citing personal “mistakes.”
