Ok so Leonardo $FINMF $FINMY, Thales $THLEF $THLLY, and Airbus $EADSF $EADSY are trying to do the European equivalent of United Launch Alliance (ULA) by $BA and $LMT to beat SpaceX.

Yeah, that didn't work so well.

If you want to go against Starlink, it's going to be a moonshot regardless, but best bet would be Rocket Lab $RKLB and its Flatellite. 

At least then, you have vertical integration of launch + satellite provider.

Yes, Airbus Defence and Space, through joint venture with Safran, does have successful Ariane Rockets. But they're not an efficient way to launch a ton of Starlink knockoffs.
