An IAF Mi17V5 helicopter leapt into action, early morning today, to undertake firefighting ops for the blazing Singapore-bound ship MV Wan Hai XXX off the coast of Kochi.

The helicopter sprayed 2600 kg of Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) over the flames- a fire that could not be controlled through conventional water-based methods. Currently, the helicopter is undertaking back-to-back missions to reinforce firefighting efforts, along with Indian Coast Guard.
