CHAINLINK CCIP ENABLES SUPERCHAIN INTEROPERABILITY ON SONEIUM VIA ASTAR NETWORK’S $ASTR TOKEN

- @Chainlink, in partnership with @AstarNetwork and @Optimism, has announced the first-ever live deployment of a SuperchainERC20-compatible token on the @Soneium Mainnet, using the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.

- This launch, part of Astar Evolution Phase 1.5, has upgraded Astar Network’s native $ASTR token to a Cross-Chain Token (CCT), thereby aligning it with the vision of an interconnected Superchain ecosystem championed by Optimism.

Key Details:

- The deployment on Soneium Mainnet now allows developers to build applications with direct access to secure, cross-chain token transfers within and beyond the Superchain, extending to both EVM and non-EVM chains such as Solana.

- The CCT standard, enabled by Chainlink CCIP, creates a unified framework for interoperability, presenting more opportunities for unified liquidity and cross-chain functionality in dApps.

- The implementation leverages Optimism’s ERC7802-based SuperchainERC20 standard to enable native token movement between OP Stack chains.

- As the first token to adopt this model on Soneium, ASTR lays the groundwork for other Superchain tokens to become CCT-compatible.

- Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, emphasized that this deployment “reinforces how Chainlink CCIP enables secure cross-chain interoperability across leading ecosystems.”

- According to OP Labs’ Staff Product Manager Zain Bacchus, “The OP Stack was built to support interoperability, and SuperchainERC20 helps to deliver it. Through Chainlink’s CCT standard, ASTR can now move securely across the Superchain.”

- The upgrade also enhances the Astar-Soneium connection, creating new possibilities for cross-chain DeFi, payments, and entertainment use cases in a fast, low-cost transaction environment powered by the OP Stack.
