I have a 2014 Ram 2500 with a XXX Cummins and a G56 manual, unmodified. Maybe someone out there can set my mind at ease: at high altitude, say above 6,000', the exhaust is always gray until it warms up, then it's fine. It looks like a smoke bomb went off when I start it. It's been this way since new and is the same now with close to 200k miles. It doesn't smoke gray at lower altitudes, but I live at 8k' so it does it every time. It doesn't burn oil or coolant because those levels never change. I suspect that the ECM is not feeding the engine with enough air and is causing it to run rich because Dodge probably mapped it for lower altitudes where most people live. The G56 probably doesn't help because it feeds absolutely zero data to the ECM unlike an auto. I checked my valve clearances a while back and everything was within spec. What do you think?
