Two Key Issues Undercut Huawei Ascend 910C's Advancement to Break Nvidia's Dominance 

Major Chinese tech  firms—including ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent—have not committed to  large-scale purchases of Huawei's AI chips, according to The Information via Wccftech.  Current adoption of the Ascend 910C remains largely confined to  state-owned enterprises and municipal agencies, highlighting its limited  penetration into the broader commercial tech sector.

A  major obstacle for Huawei is the deep-rooted reliance on Nvidia's CUDA  ecosystem, which many Chinese tech giants have heavily invested in over  the years. Transitioning away from this infrastructure would be both  costly and complex. Huawei's competing CANN framework lacks the mature  customization and developer tools offered by CUDA, making the transition  even less appealing.

Further  complicating adoption, Huawei's position as a competitor to many of  China's leading tech firms has made them hesitant to adopt its chip  solutions. Concerns over the Ascend 910C's reliability, particularly  recurring thermal issues, have reinforced industry skepticism about the  chip's readiness for enterprise-scale workloads.

Adding  to the challenge, Chinese firms have stockpiled large quantities of  Nvidia GPUs in recent years. With ample inventory still available,  companies face little urgency to transition to a new and relatively  untested chip, especially one with a high switching cost.
