A high profile trader experienced significant losses on a perp DEX totaling nearly $XXX million recently. While transparency can aid market makers in absorbing large orders, the lack of privacy can lead to coordinated attacks on visible liquidation points. Public orderbooks expose position data, allow liquidation sniping, and open the door to predatory behavior. Recently, industry leaders have debated over the pros and cons of the transparent nature of current DEX infra, where real-time visibility of orders can expose large traders to predatory practices. The debate highlighted that in traditional finance, dark pools are utilized to conceal large orders until execution, thereby preventing such manipulation. There is a growing need for privacy-focused solutions in the perp DEX trading space. We can both protect traders from manipulation while maintaining the integrity of the market.
