Between 1939 and 1940, Leonarda Cianciulli of Correggio, Italy, gained local fame for her homemade soaps and teacakes, which she generously shared with neighbors and guests. To the outside world, she appeared as a sweet, middle-aged woman, but behind closed doors, she harbored a dark and horrifying secret that no visitor could have imagined.

During those years, Cianciulli invited at least three women into her home, drugged their wine, and then murdered them with an axe. She would then brutally dismember their bodies, using the remains as the grisly base for her soaps and cakes. Her chilling confession revealed the full extent of her gruesome craft: she boiled the flesh, mixed it with cologne, and transformed it into what she described as "most acceptable creamy soap."

When authorities finally uncovered the truth, the shockwaves rippled through the small town, revealing the macabre reality behind the seemingly innocent treats Cianciulli had offered. Her crimes remain one of the most disturbing examples of deception and cruelty in Italian criminal history.
