The Pentagon’s contractor bloat was unsustainable—contractors outnumbered civilians 3:1 in some commands, billing $500/hr for PowerPoints while enlisted troops faced housing shortages.

DOGE’s efficiency push isn’t just trimming fat—it’s surgically removing rot. When the Air Force paid Accenture to resell cloud services the DOD already had, that’s not “innovation”—it’s a middleman racket.

Real reform means forcing the bureaucracy to actually use the tools they’ve bought instead of outsourcing common sense.
