Cenovus CEO downplays possible $MEG MEG bid amid organic growth focus.

$SU Suncor Energy Inc., $CNQ Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and ConocoPhillips also have been named as possible buyers of MEG in addition to $SCR Strathcona Resources.

We want to keep growing, but organic growth right now is our focus,” Cenovus chief executive Jon McKenzie said in response to a question about a potential MEG bid at an event in Calgary Friday. Still, he declined to comment directly on whether his company is interested in a takeover.

Jon McKenzie also recently purchased XXXXXX shares of $CVE Cenovus.

The bid looks like it may go higher, regardless of who eventually wins.
