Science of poverty:
Being born into poverty is like being one of the molecules of a solid block. Every molecule is tightly bound to others by strong cohesive force. For a molecule to break free, it will need to do do a lot work, which requires high amount of energy. 

In fact, as soon as that molecule gets some energy, the adjacent molecules quickly tap from it, making sure that it doesn't have enough to break free. Breaking free is possible, but very difficult.
