🚨 $PLTR A Complete Air Traffic Control Modernization Plan was Just Announced. A Potential opportunity for Palantir and its partners $ACHR (Archer) and $SRFM (Surf Air Mobility).

The system upgrade will include “all brand new hardware, all new software” and is designed to support future traffic; he alluded to drones, eVTOLs, and advanced air mobility platforms. A new flight management system will allow direct routing and reduce airborne delays.

The partnership with Palantir positions SurfOS as a potential tool for integrating advanced data analytics and AI into ATC systems, which could support modernization efforts by improving real-time decision-making, traffic flow management, and operational efficiency. For example, SurfOS’s capabilities in schedule optimization and dispatch could align with ATC needs for managing regional air traffic, especially for smaller airports or emerging advanced air mobility (AAM) operations.

Palantir Technologies, known for its AI-driven data analytics platforms like Foundry and Gotham, has a history of involvement in aviation-related projects and government modernization efforts. In 2021, the FAA signed an $XXXX million deal with Palantir to integrate disparate databases for improved aviation safety oversight, using Palantir’s data platform to enhance decision-making by analyzing data from satellite tracking, air traffic control, and pilot reports. Additionally, Palantir’s recent partnership with Archer Aviation, announced in March 2025, focuses on developing AI-based software for next-generation aviation systems, including air traffic control, movement control, and route planning. This collaboration leverages Palantir’s Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) to improve efficiency, safety, and scalability in aviation systems

Surf Air Mobility is actively involved in initiatives that could intersect with air traffic control (ATC) modernization. Surf Air Mobility is developing SurfOS, an AI-powered operating system designed to enhance regional air mobility. This platform, built in collaboration with Palantir since 2021, leverages Palantir’s Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) to optimize airline operations, including scheduling, dispatch reliability, cost reduction, and revenue distribution. SurfOS is described as an all-in-one platform to replace outdated aviation software, with applications in air traffic control and smart scheduling to ensure operational efficiency without overloading staff.

President Trump, who joined the briefing by phone, said the plan would “fully replace the technology at more than XXXXX air traffic control sites” and include six new coordination centers. The initiative, he said, is the first comprehensive modernization since the 1960s.

Our mission is to build a brand-new, state-of-the-art system that can grow with the aviation economy,” Duffy said, calling the plan “bold” but necessary to prevent future incidents like the January XX midair collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

The coalition is calling for $XXXX billion in emergency funding over the next three years in addition to the FAA’s annual facilities and equipment budget, citing decades of underinvestment. It applauded the administration’s $X billion FY25 request and the House committee’s initial $XXXX billion funding package.
