Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairperson of the Charoen Pokphand Group, discussed nuclear energy's potential to support AI and EV industries, noting that Indonesia and Malaysia have already passed laws to promote advanced nuclear power plants, while Thailand has not.

He emphasized at a seminar organized by Chulalongkorn University that clean, affordable electricity, such as nuclear power, is essential since solar and wind energy are not enough.

He acknowledged that Thailand’s economy still has a future but faces global changes, including natural disasters, political instability and rapid technological advancements. However, each crisis presents an opportunity.

Dhanin praised Thailand’s tourism sector, boosted by the government’s decision to remove visa requirements. He called for increased funding and clear goals to attract tourists from specific countries, with a focus on clear planning and budgeting.

He also suggested Thailand should become a global education hub, attracting international students to boost the economy. Additionally, he highlighted Thailand's agricultural advantage due to its relative safety from disasters, recommending investments in land development, irrigation, and reservoirs to prevent flooding and droughts.

Dhanin pointed out that technology, from farming to logistics, plays a critical role, with drones and robotics improving productivity and safety. While CP Group is often seen as a monopoly, he clarified that the company operates vertically to balance production and demand.

He stressed that businesses rely on the public's wealth. If people don’t prosper, sales will decline. Universities must produce skilled workers, and the government needs to create supportive laws for businesses to thrive. He also said that the 600-baht minimum wage is inevitable, but the workforce must be equipped with the skills to keep up with global standards, increasing productivity and ensuring long-term prosperity.
