TLDR, but you will be super surprised. Ok so the dead giveaway is if the place you buy your crypto doesn't let you: X. Set price you want to buy and sell X. Have an order book X. Trade token/fiat or token/tokens pairs X. Only allows you to buy using your home fiat currency. You are buying from a MARKET MAKER. So Market Makers (MM) source tokens from the open market, as well as buy from users selling, but there is no market set price. They set it to whatever they want. This creates a huge spread. They often charge crazy few like 1%, AND they make millions from lags/leads in prices. Further, you don't have access to stop loss, trailing stops, and of course buy/sell at a limit/stop you set. It's worth reviewing this, you could save a lot of money buying off a proper crypto exchange.
