"What makes Mike MacDonalds defense so good are two things: 1) his personnel 2) he is a master of disguise. Normally youll see coaches like Kyle Shanahan use motions to reveal the defenses coverages. Typically in man-to-man a guy will follow and in zone the whole defense shifts over. But with MacDonald that isnt always the case. Sometimes he inverts it and it makes teams not want to use motion. Hes forcing them to play static on offense which then makes it even easier on the defense. Letting his guys play freely. "A huge reason why I projected Will Campbell as a center coming out of college is his build. Being tall with short arms is a death sentence for tackles. Your center of gravity is higher but you dont have the length to reach rushers. Operating inside gives defenders less room to generate power and less space to set up the OL.
