"No it isnt. Golds value will never be based on utility alone there will always be a monetary value embedded in it. 2000 years of history also supports this. How can you not discount an insurance premium in the event of Bitcoins failure ( Im not saying it will fail either) but even the slightest chance it does warrants that you discount it into Golds future monetary value. Its a natural hedge then - which will drive demand into perpetuity. That slight chance then debunks the whole argument that Golds entire market value as money is just latent demand for bitcoin"
