Tens of thousands of people in China are becoming homeless after being blacklisted by the social credit system, which freezes their bank accounts and digital wallets, making it hard to find a job. A low social credit score can restrict access to employment opportunities, and those blacklisted often turn to day laborer jobs or become homeless. The system uses big data, AI, and surveillance to monitor and control people's movements and behavior.
