"If an LP invests $25M into a VC fund '    . They actually invest small amounts over 3-4 years. These are Capital Calls. Heres how it works 👇 When an LP invests in a VC fund theyre actually making a commitment say $25M. But they dont wire that full amount upfront Instead as the GP finds and funds new deals they issue capital calls formal requests for LPs to send in their share of the capital (usually 10-25% of their commitment at a time). Over a funds investment period (typically 3-4 years) the GP will call down most of that committed capital. Early calls fund new portfolio companies. Later"
