"Now defend the PGA Tour official broadcasters attempt to rewrite history by repeatedly referring to Justin Thomas as the defending champion at the [----] Players Championship. "Not sure P Reed was spurned by LIV execs. Contract negotiations were in progress and expected to be sorted prior to LIV Riyadh as is evidenced by Patrick Reed being at the LIV Team Week event. He even said that he would "be shocked" if he wasn't playing in Riyadh. I think the PGA Tour's handling of Brooks Koepka peaked his interest and winning in Dubai and vaulting up the Race [--] Dubai rankings flipped things for him. "Brooks hasnt moved the needle for several years and even then he never moved the needle outside of majors. He didn't care enough about tour events to move the needle outside the big four events. Reed is a great player and while he might needle some players like Rory McIlroy or move things like sand near the ball or the rough near the ball is that really moving the needle. There simply aren't that many needle movers in golf. Bryson/Rory/Rahm/Scottie and that's about it. If there were more the fawning over Tiger Woods would have ended when he damn near killed himself"

"Umm soft fields can lessen the impact of shallow fields as more players can go low on easy course set ups and there is less to differentiate the higher skill sets. You can't have it both ways. PS. some PGA Tour courses have softer set ups than most LIV events. Check at the Amex Express at La Quinta. LIV Riyadh is held at a resort course but played at night under lights which provides some interesting and unique challenges. All tours have events with tough course setups and easy course setups. The PGA Tour is known throughout the world for its target style receptive greens approach to course"

"My take- [--]. I had high expectations when Elvis Smylie was confirmed to be moving to LIV. There is no doubting his tremendous talent and he was certainly an important signing from a strengthening the playing roster angle both for Ripper GC and LIV Golf itself. However this was above and beyond all expectations. As you stated. What a debut [--]. No tour/league can lose a 5-time major champion and a world class scrapper and major winner without taking a hit. On the flip side the new signings have significantly upgraded the playing roster and it is onwards and upwards for LIV even without Brooks"

"When you start with "How bad is the DPWT" you have already largely diminished the point. The DPWT isn't bad. It's stronger than 90% of the professional tours inckuded in the OWGR system. It has been financially strengthened by funding from the PGA Tour but has lost some player strength in return. It remains the global tour providing playing opportunities to players in numerous countries.
