"Dankrad going to Tempo is only a bad thing if you see the EVM as a bunch of competing blockchains. It's not. The EVM is the internet of money. A network of blockchains capable of multiple orders of magnitude more than a single blockchain. Payment L1s will cause trillions to flow through the internet of money. It may not be directly on Ethereum but it will be trivial for that capital to flow off of Tempo onto Ethereum onto other EVM chains. Tempo will drive trillions of value into the EVM. It won't flow into any other ecosystem as easily"

"I understand where youre coming from regarding (3) but I disagree. Chains like MegaETH that settle to Ethereum but use external DA arent really driving much financial demand to the base layer. That said I do think MegaETH is extremely helpful for the Ethereum ecosystem because youre innovating. Many of the technical improvements that MegaETH introduces will eventually be adopted within the Ethereum ecosystem - possibly at the L1 level and almost certainly by other chains that settle to Ethereum. So the main value comes from innovation. Therefore Tempo (and Sei Monad Avalanche etc) are growing"

"blockchains are not purely backend infra - they are a combination of backend infra + distribution engines. and that distribution engine is the primary reason that most founders pick one blockchain over another. i agree that if stripe onboarded users directly to ethereum L1 that would be the best case. but its not actually that different for them to onboard users to an L2 vs an EVM L1 - most of the value that L2s provide ETH comes from eth alignment not from financial alignment"
