"I've been back in Asuncin for a bit and it's interesting to see how things are picking up So many amazing projects coming up in the coming years: ✅ Distrito Perseverancia feels like a solid attempt at blending city life with some real green space ✅ The new Link Center will be shaking up the business side with its sustainable towers ✅ The Nueva Costanera actually making the river commute less of a hassle ✅ A new project to revitalize the old center has just been approved ✅ They're building a huge waterpark in the outskirts of the city ✅ There's even talks of a new train & metro line This is"

"People always ask why Paraguay Why not go to a "cool place" like Dubai or Bali I chose it for the same reason I left Spain. I wanted peace more than I wanted status XXX a month gets you what costs 3500 in Barcelona. And let's not even talk about Miami or London Same quality of life XX times less stress"

"And it's not even that bad There are lots of other places where conditions are way worse Here in Asuncion roads have potholes but you can drive in them. Blackouts are not that frequent. Almost all modern flats have air con and are properly constructed Way better than in many other places in Latin America"

"@itsjacksworld Accommodation is surprisingly cheap If you look at Airbnbs they're actually less expensive than in Asuncion And that's in the best area of Buenos Aires: Palermo Recoleta. Sadly the country is too unstable to use it as a permanent base for most of us"

"Confirmed: Gumroad doesn't know about Flag Theory or Digital Nomads I've been talking to the support team for over a week now trying to get paid the money I've made with them over the last couple of months They initially approved my account said everything was fine and allowed me to start selling Ah but when it was time to actually send me my money. Apparently "they can't support people who have a registered company in one country and live in another one" Shouldn't you have said so from the start Luckily there are alternatives. But if you're a digital nomad you should NOT do business with them"

"Ive lived in expensive cities and cheap cities And in my experience Expensive cities dont make you happier. They just make you hustle harder to stay broke Places like Chiang Mai Tbilisi or Asuncion let you work less earn the same and actually enjoy your life That trade-off is worth more than people think"

"I've met a lot of nomads who use travel as a drug. Myself included New city new high New person new distraction It might be fun for a while. But eventually you run out of places that feel exciting And you're stuck with yourself in a hostel in Chiang Mai wondering what the point was Until you learn how to be happy anywhere you will just be escaping your current reality"

"I used to think not fitting in was a problem I've always been a bit of an outcast. Hated working in groups in school and I'd much rather spend time reading a good novel than partying It also affected my identity. I never felt fully Spanish in Spain. And don't fit it with the "cool" nomad crowd either here in Paraguay or when I was living in Asia It took me a while to realize that this can actually be an advantage When you don't belong anywhere completely you see things other people miss You're not attached to one way of doing things so you can innovate So if you're "weird" or "different". Use"

"People ask me how much money you need to go remote Honestly Less than you think I lived in Thailand on $700/month. Don't recommend it but it was doable In Paraguay or Colombia you'll be fine on $2000/month. And in European spots like Portugal or Prague maybe $3000 if you're careful The real question isn't "how much do I need" It's "what kind of life do I actually want" Because you can stretch money forever and still feel like shit"

"Two main issues: - Taxes in Spain are absolutely insane and there's no way around them - Cost of living is MUCH higher than in almost any Latin American/South East Asian countries For example a one month Airbnb in Madrid can easily cost 2500 and in Buenos Aires less than XXX Pretty big difference"

"My travel calendar for the next few months is almost ready This is what I have so far: - November: Spain to visit family and friends for a bit - December: Argentina . So far Calafate and Bariloche to escape Asuncion's heat - January: Rio de Janeiro & Floripa to visit some in laws (and hit the beach) - February: Sao Paulo for a My Chemical Romance concert (yes I'm an emo kid at heart) then back to Asuncion - March: Montevideo & Buenos Aires with my family We'll then stay in Paraguay for a few months and will probably hit Asia at some point later next year Excited about what's coming"

"Weather This is probably the only area in which Southern Europe sweeps the floor with the East. IF you don't visit in summer Again I love the South. But you don't want to stay in Barcelona or Malaga at 40C in summer In fact when I lived in Europe I used to escape to places like Tallinn or Prague to escape the extreme heat Winter in Central/Eastern Europe is pretty rough though"

"Community Bali: Everyone's there but most people are shallow networkers. Here's where I realized I HATED the expat networking events; you just talked to dozens of people and didn't connect with anyone Chiang Mai: Smaller but people actually work and build real things. I made some life long friends when I was in Chiang Mai since you have time to actually talk to them If you're a party animal you'll like Bali better. But if you're an introvert. Chiang Mai is the way to go"

"Freedom Perhaps what I value the most In Central/Eastern Europe you can basically do whatever you want provided you don't harm anyone You can't say the same about Southern Europe Regulations everywhere. You get fined basically for existing Some of the most stupid regulations I had to endure in Spain: ❌ You can't go camping ❌ You can't go fishing ❌ You can't go swimming in lakes or rivers ❌ You can't kayak or do SUP without a license ❌ Most nature spots are heavily regulated so you might not be admitted Basically if it's fun and harmless. You can't do it"

"Cost Chiang Mai: $800-1200/month and you're comfortable. I used to spend $150/month on rent here in the best area of town Bali (Canggu): $1500-2500/month and rising fast. It was expensive back in the day and apparently it is even more expensive now Bali basically has first world prices. Chiang Mai is still a deal"

"I'd rather be time rich than money rich Think about it: what's more important to you ❌ Driving a Bugatti going to the VIP area in clubs every week having XX gold watches. Or. ✅ Being able to wake up whenever the hell you want travel as often as you desire spending time with your loved ones pick up an artistic hobbie just because you feel like it etc Sometimes both types of riches go hand in hand. The salary she made working locally She couldn't wait to leave which is why she moved to Spain Then. something changed She started working remotely for European clients. Making 5x what she made before And suddenly Colombia was different ✅ We went to Cartagena and stayed in a nice place not a hostel ✅ Medelln felt safe because we could Uber everywhere ✅ Bogot had incredible restaurants we could actually afford Same country same cities. "Most people overlook Asuncin I get it. It's not Lisbon or Mexico City. But after living here for a while I realized that's the whole point ✅ Low cost of living ✅ Solid infrastructure ✅ Great food if you know where to look ✅ Zero nomad circus just real life at a pace that actually feels sustainable I've been here on and off for a year now and honestly It's one of the best-kept secrets for people who want to live well on less Rent is cheap. Food is great. People are friendly. And you're not drowning in a sea of other remote workers all chasing the same vibe"

"Nine years ago I had 1000 in my bank account - Living in a tiny studio in Chiang Mai - Teaching myself copywriting from YouTube videos - Taking calls with clients at 2am because of timezone differences - Eating street food every meal to save money It was uncomfortable. Lonely sometimes. Definitely chaotic But here's what I wasn't doing: - Sitting in traffic for X hours a day - Asking permission to take vacation - Pretending to be busy in meetings about nothing - Making someone else rich while I stayed broke Now I make more in a week than I used to make in two months And I work maybe X hours a"

"I've been in Asuncin for a year now And every time I come back from a trip something new is happening This month alone: ✅ Three new quality restaurants in the area I live ✅ A new skyscraper almost finished next to my house ✅ Construction on a huge mixed-use development started ✅ The riverside walkway got extended another 2km ✅ Internet speeds somehow got even better This is what I love about smaller cities that are growing They're still figuring things out. Still improving. Still hungry Compare that to Barcelona or Paris. Nothing changes. Everything's expensive. The best days feel like"

"Why I'll never move back to Europe I miss Europe sometimes The food. The history. My family and friends of course But I'll never move back full-time Here's why: In Madrid I'd need 4000/month to live the life I want In Asuncin I need $2000 That means even if I'm doing the same work in Europe I'm always worried about money Here in Asuncin I'm saving investing and not thinking about rent Europe is beautiful if you're rich or if you inherited wealth But if you're starting from scratch The math doesn't work anymore"

"I talk a lot about why I love Asuncin But let me be honest about what sucks: ❌ The heat in summer is brutal. 40C+ and humid ❌ Public transport is basically non-existent ❌ Customer service can be. frustrating ❌ Some infrastructure is still very third-world ❌ The bureaucracy is slow (though not as bad as Argentina or Spain) ❌ Finding good contractors/services takes forever It's not perfect But here's the thing. Every city has trade-offs Madrid has traffic crazy rent and XX% taxes Lisbon is overrun with tourists and pricing out locals Berlin is cold gray and bureaucratic I choose Asuncin's"

Or. ✅ Being able to wake up whenever the hell you want travel as often as you desire spending time with your loved ones pick up an artistic hobbie just because you feel like it etc Sometimes both types of riches go hand in hand. But sometimes they don't So if you need to become a slave to your work in order to impress others and buy fancy stuff. Is that really what you want I know I don't"

Fu***ing love it But again the main difference is. price Take a look at this XX steak in Avila (small city next to Madrid) vs XX in Sofia Bulgaria"

"Thats a long topic but As a developer you have two paths: - Become a contractor for a remote company. The best option for that is TopTal but you can also search on LinkedIn Upwork - Start packaging your services and sell a solution instead of development per se. For example I help healthcare companies between X and XX employees systematize their client pipeline with a custom built system Happy to talk about this in private 🤟🏻"

"My wife is Colombian And for years she hated her own country The traffic. The chaos. But different income. Completely different experience This is what people"

"Cost of Living Buenos Aires: $1500-2000/month minimum if you want to live decently Asuncin: $1000-1500/month and you're living well Rent is surprisingly similar in both capitals.
