I do though know plenty of working people who pay taxes here in France but also benefit from tax credits and other allowances for their children. Inevitably all social benefits go disproportionately to those who have the least. "We live in the Normandy countryside away from traffic so I let her go out sometimes on dry summer nights when she really insisted. She never went far from the house and had a shelter in the garden. It was fine until it wasn't. 😢 We searched all the fields and the whole village was in the look out but there was never a sign.
